In recent years, steps have been taken by Pakistan’s citizens to address the lack of educational opportunities for the youth. However, what happens when they leave school, having gained their basic education? For many young adults, finishing school also signals their return to an uncertain future, often times with little or no guidance toward possible careers. Most find themselves trapped in the same cycle of poverty as their parents while many regress even further in financial hardship.
The Hunar Foundation offers one year Vocational Training Courses, starting January and July every year.
Students are selected based on aptitude and performance in the entry Test & Interview. Courses are divided into two Semesters, Level I & II. Students get Certification after the successful completion of the course and six months experience in the industry.
The Vocational Training courses are selected, based on surveys and demand in the various industries, particularly construction in Pakistan and Gulf States.
Presently five Vocational Training courses are available for male young adults.
For female young adults professional beauty salon courses are available.
The education system must be attuned to the new global environment by promoting creativity and improving the quality of education and training at all levels. Therefore, it is crucial to invest in quality vocational education, which is available to school dropouts and other young adults, that meets the technical skill needs to the marketplace leading to wage earning capabilities. Vocational Training is one of the quickest and most effective means of alleviating unemployment.
